About Us

Thornton Auctions Manawatu was started by Simon McKay a long time local member of the Manawatu area building a well known and recognized name in the community for friendly client orientated service. Due to age and some heath considerations the business was sold to Alex & Tracey Dawson in 2019 who also own Thornton Auctions in Auckland. Their main focus was not to let a well established auction house close leaving very few options for locals.

We look forward to continuing the work done before us and invite people to come in for a chat, to see what we have on offer, to haggle for a good price and to walk away with a great bargain. We look forward to seeing you soon

Our Location

Located in the central Manawatu with easy access to all points from Wellington to Taupo, Whanganui to Waipukurau. Our work has taken us as far as Gisborne, New Plymouth and Blenhiem. You will find us 150m from the gate of Manfeild Park Raceway, and within walking distance of the main street of Feilding. Our yard suits all vehicles with 2 access points and large turn around areas.

There are many different options for you to bid. Live in house, live online, leave an absentee bid with our staff, leave an absentee bid online, phone bid

Yes this is a requirement for us and by law. You can do it in house or ONLINE, you can also use your online bidding number in house – if you remember what it is. Every auction issues new numbers. This needs to say that our friendly staff can look this up for you as Webtron doesn’t give you a number when you register.

Buyers Premium is a form of guarantee that the item YOU purchase is yours and gives you clear title to that item. If there is a dispute, we will help you through it.

No we do not. We can assist with arranging a courier or you may use Post Hastes Pass The Parcel – see our partners.

A notification will be sent to you via email. You may pay in house or through internet banking. Once the items have been paid for in full they may be collected or a courier can be arranged for collection.

A general rule of thumb for auctions is Buyer Beware and there is no warranty expressed or implied. Contact us first let’s see what we can work out, we do not like selling items that unknowingly do not work. If we know a fault we will let you know, otherwise it is a case by case basis, contact us ASAP

As soon as the items have been paid for in full, they may be collected. We do allow 2 working days for carriers / transport to be arranged. If you need a little longer let us know. We do have a fork hoist onsite to assist.

This is done directly into your bank account – this gives you & us very clear transparency of transaction. On very rare occasions we will pay by cheque but NEVER in cash. We pay you once we have been paid, there is a 14 working day wait period. If the items have not been paid by then the transaction is cancelled and represented.
